What is BounceBit?
BounceBit is a blockchain project that combines centralized and decentralized finance elements. It operates as an EVM-compatible Layer 1 network with a focus on integrating tokenized real-world assets and institutional-grade collateral into cryptocurrency markets. The platform uses a settlement layer alongside an institutional collateral framework, allowing yield-bearing assets to be applied to activities such as trading, treasury operations, financing, and structured yield strategies.
The network's technology includes a proof-of-stake base layer that separates custody, execution, and onchain accounting. Its V3 standard represents user positions as rebasing tokens like BBUSD and BBTC, which can be used across decentralized exchanges, money markets, and staking. An upcoming upgrade called Ignition is planned to improve throughput and fee predictability. BounceBit Prime, the project's institutional platform, sources tokenized cash equivalents from funds offered by Franklin Templeton and BlackRock through Securitize, with client assets held at Standard Chartered.

BB serves as the native token, used for gas fees, staking, validator rewards, and governance. Notable milestones include a seed funding round in early 2024, the mainnet launch in May 2024, and the introduction of the Prime platform. The project was founded by Jack Lu, who acts as CEO.
