C.R.E.A.M. Finance is a decentralized lending protocol built for DeFi, offering financial services to individuals, institutions, and other protocols. It operates within the yearn.finance ecosystem and is permissionless, open-source, and blockchain-agnostic, supporting networks like Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, and Fantom. Users can deposit assets such as Ether or wBTC to earn yields, akin to a savings account. The protocol originated as a fork of Compound Finance and was launched on Ethereum in August 2020, expanding to Binance Smart Chain the following month. The name stands for "Crypto Runs Everything Around Me." The CREAM token enables lending, borrowing, staking, and governance participation.
C.R.E.A.M. Finance was founded by Taiwanese entrepreneur Jeffrey Huang, who also created Mithril, an Ethereum-based social media platform. At launch, he described himself as the "semi-benevolent dictator of CREAM." Token distribution allocates 10% to the team and advisors with a four-year vesting period and a six-month cliff, 10% for seed investors with similar vesting but a one-year cliff, 20% to incentivize liquidity providers, and 60% reserved for governance purposes.
C.R.E.A.M. Finance stands out by providing liquidity to key DeFi assets through automated market making, allowing users to lend, borrow, and earn liquidity mining rewards in CREAM tokens by supplying collateral. The platform focuses on supporting assets vital to DeFi, including major stablecoins, governance tokens, and leading cryptocurrencies like ETH, renBTC, and LINK. As an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, CREAM supports smart contracts and composability, enabling integration with other financial services. Users can stake CREAM for up to four years to earn rewards, but there is no admin unlock, meaning rewards are only accessible after the staking period ends.
The total supply of CREAM is capped at 9 million tokens. Currently, only about 150,000 are in circulation, with the remainder being released gradually over time through monthly vesting schedules for stakeholders and liquidity miners.
C.R.E.A.M. Finance has not undergone official audits by choice. Instead, security is managed through expert advisers, including Compound founder Robert Leshner, who review code and oversee a multisig wallet to protect user funds. However, an audit was conducted by Trail of Bits on January 28, 2021, with the report available in the project's documentation.

C.R.E.A.M. Finance facilitates automated market making and liquidity provision for DeFi assets, collecting fees from swaps, lending, and borrowing activities. The platform aims to list stablecoins, governance tokens, and major cryptocurrencies like ETH, renBTC, and LINK. CREAM tokens can be staked for up to four years to accrue rewards. The project has not undergone official audits, relying instead on expert advisors, including Compound founder Robert Leshner, for security review, though a Trail of Bits audit was conducted in January 2021.
