EOS Network is an open-source blockchain designed for high performance, flexibility, security, and developer convenience. It is a third-generation blockchain using the EOS virtual machine, which features an extensible WebAssembly engine for deterministic execution of near-fee-less transactions. EOS is a highly scalable, divisible, and programmable digital currency. It operates on a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) model, where stakeholders choose node operators, ensuring full decentralization. The network's appeal lies in its technology and community, enabling developers to create projects that other blockchains cannot support, with tools and resources to help users adapt.
The EOS Network Foundation (ENF) was established after EOS block producers voted on August 25, 2021, to fund it, effectively ending Block.one's involvement with the EOS network. This move, led by Yves La Rose, allowed the community to regain control and focus on building and delivering the protocol. The ENF is a not-for-profit organization that coordinates financial and non-financial support to foster growth and development of the EOS Network. It serves as the central hub, leveraging decentralization for positive global change and charting a coordinated future for EOS.
EOS stands out as a third-generation Layer 1 blockchain known for low latency and high performance, allowing developers to build according to their vision with programmable architectures, versatile infrastructures, and custom smart contracts. Its uniqueness also stems from its resilient community, where token holders collaborate with developers and ecosystem leaders to drive growth. EOS values transparency, openness, honesty, accountability, liberty, and respect. Notably, it is the first blockchain with a community-led foundation and user support, where token holders elected a foundation to spearhead network growth, and community members initiated live support for users.
RAM on the EOS blockchain is a crucial memory resource for storing data. It is a finite Real World Asset (RWA) and the original decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN), launched in 2018. Similar to digital real estate, RAM is ownable and scarce, forming the backbone of a decentralized state machine. It is considered a critical and strategic investment in digital infrastructure. To acquire RAM, users must purchase it with EOS tokens.
At the time of writing, approximately 71.28% of the total EOS token supply is in circulation. A new tokenomics model has recently been introduced, marking a new era for EOS. As part of this, 15 million EOS is allocated for middleware improvements, with 5 million already activated to enhance user experience. Additionally, 350 million EOS is reserved for RAM, with 35 million used for programmatic RAM purchases and 315 million set aside for market-making activities to list RAM on both decentralized and centralized exchanges.
EOS uses delegated-proof-of-stake (DPoS), a variant of proof-of-stake where token holders have governance power proportional to their stake. The EOS token provides pro-rata access to network resources and governance rights. The network is a decentralized operating system governed by a DAO. In DPoS, token holders delegate their stake to elect representatives who validate transactions. This approach helps prevent consolidation, where smaller miners might be overshadowed by those with more computing power and resources.
EOS can be purchased on numerous exchanges, including Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Bithumb, Upbit, and over 100 other platforms. Given its widespread use in the crypto industry, it is rare to find a trading platform that does not support EOS.
EOS is an open-source blockchain platform designed for high performance, flexibility, and security. It operates as a third-generation Layer 1 blockchain using a Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, where token holders select node operators. The network features an extensible WebAssembly engine for executing transactions with minimal fees. EOS also includes a memory resource called EOS RAM, which is used for data storage and is described as a scarce digital asset.

It was formed after the community, led by Yves La Rose, took control from Block.one. The ENF aims to harness decentralization for global change and is supported by a community that values transparency and accountability.
