What is Eclipse?
Eclipse is a layer-2 network that operates on top of Ethereum. It uses the Solana Virtual Machine to handle transaction execution, while finalizing transactions on Ethereum and posting data to Celestia. The project's stated goal is to address Ethereum's scaling limitations and support the development of a broader ecosystem it refers to as the Eclipse Economy.
Since its launch, the network reports having reached a peak throughput of nearly 9,000 transactions per second, which it claims represents a significant increase over Ethereum's base capacity. The project is led by CEO Vijay Chetty, who has prior experience in the cryptocurrency sector, having held roles at Ripple, dYdX, and Uniswap.
