Ether.Fi is a liquid restaking protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain. It enables users to stake ETH and receive eETH, a liquid restaking token. When a user mints eETH, the protocol automatically handles the staking and restaking of the underlying ETH. This process gives stakers exposure to several reward streams, including Ethereum staking rewards, ether.fi Loyalty Points, restaking rewards from EigenLayer, and the ability to use eETH as liquidity in DeFi protocols.
The platform operates with a focus on self-custody and decentralization, allowing users to retain control over their assets through a non-custodial delegated staking mechanism. Ether.Fi also plans to enhance security by removing upgradability from its smart contracts and has introduced a crypto-native credit card that offers cash back rewards. The protocol leverages EigenLayer's restaking concept, which allows staked ETH to secure multiple applications simultaneously, aiming to improve network scalability and maximize user rewards.
