Flamingo is a decentralized finance platform built on the Neo blockchain and the Poly Network interoperability protocol. It integrates multiple DeFi applications into one ecosystem, including a cross-chain asset wrapper, an on-chain liquidity pool, a vault, a perpetual contract trading platform, and a decentralized governance organization. The platform is being rolled out in phases: the token wrapper for assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, Neo, and Ontology launched on September 23, 2020; the swap and LP token staking on September 30; the vault and stablecoin issuance on October 28; the perp on November 25; and the DAO on December 23.
Flamingo was founded by Da Hongfei, a Chinese entrepreneur who is also a co-founder of Neo, the blockchain that Flamingo is built on. He also co-founded OnChain, a company focused on private blockchain services. Hongfei studied English and technology at the South China University of Technology and previously served as CEO of IntPass Consulting. He entered the blockchain space in 2013-2014 after teaching himself to code.
Flamingo aims to be a single platform that brings together multiple decentralized finance tools for Neo, all governed by its users through a decentralized autonomous organization. DeFi is a growing sector that seeks to remove intermediaries from financial systems. While most DeFi projects offer individual services like lending, yield farming, or exchanges, Flamingo's distinction lies in its goal to combine key financial instruments for Neo—such as token wrapping, liquidity pooling, and asset management—into one integrated ecosystem.
FLM tokens are distributed in batches based on user participation, with no tokens sold or allocated to the team before launch. During the first week after the Vault's launch, 50 million FLM are distributed to staking pools. From weeks 2-5, 40 million go to liquidity providers. In weeks 6-9, an additional 30 million are shared among liquidity providers and FUSD minters. Finally, from weeks 10-13, another 30 million are distributed to liquidity providers, FUSD minters, and Perp traders. There is no maximum supply; after the initial minting and DAO launch, future issuance will be decided by community consensus.
FLM is a NEP-5 token on the Neo blockchain, so it inherits Neo's security. Neo uses two hash functions: SHA-256, also used by Bitcoin, and RIPEMD-160.
As of October 2020, FLM is not listed on any cryptocurrency exchange. It can only be obtained by participating directly in the Flamingo network. This page will be updated if FLM becomes available on public exchanges.
Flamingo is a decentralized finance platform built on the Neo blockchain and the Poly Network interoperability protocol. It integrates multiple DeFi applications into a unified ecosystem, including a cross-chain asset gateway, a liquidity pool for swaps, an asset vault, a perpetual contract trading platform, and a decentralized governance organization. The platform's components were scheduled for phased launches starting in September 2020, with the token wrapper, swap, vault, perp, and DAO rolling out sequentially through December 2020.
The project was founded by Da Hongfei, a Chinese entrepreneur who co-founded Neo and the blockchain services company OnChain. Flamingo aims to consolidate various financial tools for the Neo token into a single user-governed platform, distinguishing itself from other DeFi ecosystems where such services are typically offered by separate platforms.
The FLM token is issued in batches and distributed to participants based on their network activity, with no tokens sold or allocated to the team before launch. Initial distributions include 50 million FLM during the first week's "mint rush," followed by additional allocations to liquidity providers and other users over subsequent weeks. There is no maximum supply cap, and future issuance will be determined by the community through the DAO. FLM operates on the NEP-5 standard and is secured by the Neo blockchain.
