Hathor is a blockchain platform that organizes transactions in a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) outside of blocks, with these blocks providing confirmation. This structural approach is intended to support high scalability and decentralization. The project began development on August 27, 2018, and its mainnet went live on January 3, 2020. It is open-source and encourages public participation.
The platform aims to simplify the process of creating new tokens. Tokens issued on the network are designed to operate with the same scalability and security parameters as the native HTR token, which facilitates transactions within the system. Hathor also incorporates a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism for network security. The project has partnered with renewable energy companies to address the energy consumption associated with mining activities, promoting a more sustainable approach.
