What is Hyperliquid?
Hyperliquid is a layer-one blockchain designed around a fully on-chain perpetual futures exchange. Instead of relying on an automated market maker, it operates a central limit order book directly at the protocol level, meaning order placement, matching, and liquidation all occur on-chain and are recorded in the ledger.
The network employs its own HyperBFT consensus mechanism and includes an EVM-compatible execution layer called HyperEVM alongside the exchange. This setup allows standard Ethereum-style contracts to interact with and trade against the same order book used by the exchange itself.

HYPE serves as the native token of the network, distributed primarily through a launch airdrop to earlier exchange users in late 2024. Its functions include staking with validators, paying gas fees on HyperEVM, and participating in governance decisions.
