Inverse Finance is a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that develops and manages a suite of financial products, including the FiRM fixed-rate lending protocol, the DOLA stablecoin, and sDOLA, a yield-bearing iteration of DOLA. The project was established by Nour Haridy in late 2020 and is overseen by the Inverse Finance DAO, a community of crypto enthusiasts. The platform's codebase is open-source and maintained by its community.
The protocol operates within the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector, using blockchain technology and smart contracts to facilitate direct peer-to-peer transactions without traditional financial intermediaries. FiRM, its lending protocol, aims to provide predictable costs for lending and borrowing by mitigating interest rate volatility. The platform also features synthetic assets, which allow users to gain exposure to various assets in a decentralized manner. Its governance token, INV, grants holders voting rights on key decisions and proposals, ensuring that the platform's evolution is community-driven.
DOLA is a debt-backed, decentralized stablecoin designed to maintain a stable value, serving as a medium of exchange and store of value within the ecosystem. sDOLA provides users with an opportunity to earn returns on their DOLA holdings. The platform employs a security approach that includes a bankruptcy-remote trade finance trustee and auditor model, where tokenized trade finance assets are serviced by a trustee, with data points confirmed by an auditor and recorded on the blockchain via an oracle. Additionally, the protocol uses audited smart contracts and tokenized indexes, which are collateralized by the base asset and locked within a smart contract to maintain accurate pegging.
