Katana Inu is a play-to-earn game set in an open-world battle royale format, aiming to bring high-quality graphics and photorealistic visuals to the GameFi space. It features 3D characters and weapons that can be turned into NFTs. Players can engage in typical play-to-earn activities such as hunting for loot boxes to sell on the game's marketplace, participate in monthly tournaments, and even stream gameplay on platforms like Twitch and YouTube. The game blends DeFi elements with traditional gaming, allowing players to trade in-game items like skins, caps, and special powers on its NFT marketplace. The project follows a four-stage roadmap, with the PC beta release as a final milestone, and also plans to support charitable causes related to animal welfare, green living, and poverty reduction.
The development team behind Katana Inu is known as Chainvision, a group of German developers who came together to create this game. The core team of four members has backgrounds in sales and e-commerce, and they are supported by several crypto venture capital funds, including BlueZilla. The project lists over two dozen backers on its website. Additionally, Katana Inu has a strong advisory board, featuring individuals like Wulf Kaal, co-founder of DEVxDAO; Ian Scarffe, a blockchain expert with two decades of fintech experience; and Timo Trippler, an ICO advisor.
Katana Inu positions itself in the high-end blockchain gaming segment, distinguishing itself through superior graphics and detailed gameplay. Players can earn income through various modes, with Battle Royale being the main attraction, where up to 100 players compete in PvP battles for in-game items and KATA tokens. Other promised modes include tournaments, races, and 5v5 battles, though specifics are not yet detailed. The native NFT marketplace serves as a hub for trading all in-game items, from characters to weapons, enabling players to monetize their gaming by selling NFTs. Staking KATA also allows for passive income generation. Beyond gaming, the project supports charity initiatives focused on rainforest preservation, building orphanages and schools, and providing self-sustaining water fountains in Africa.
KATA is the native utility token of the game, with a total supply of 50 billion tokens distributed as follows: 6% to advisors over 24 months, 5% for liquidity, 6% for marketing with an 8-month cliff then linear over 24 months, 7% to treasury with a 6-month cliff then linear over 24 months, 25% to the team with a 6-month cliff then linear over 36 months, 29% for in-game rewards, 10% for private sale with a 2-month cliff then linear over 8 months, 6% for public sale over 4 months, 5% for seed sale with a 2-month cliff then linear over 5 months, and 1% for airdrops over 12 months.
Katana Inu operates on an Ethereum sidechain to avoid gas fees and enhance user experience. KATA is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and a BEP-20 token on Binance Smart Chain (BSC). BSC uses a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism where 21 validators are elected every 24 hours to validate transactions and maintain security. These validators must stake a certain amount of BNB with Binance to become eligible.
KATA can be purchased on several exchanges, including Hotbit, PancakeSwap (V2), ZT, BitMart, and Uniswap (V2). For those new to buying cryptocurrencies, additional guides are available to help with the process.
