What is Nexus?
NEX is the native token of the Nexus blockchain, launched by the Nexus Foundation in 2026. The network is designed for exchange infrastructure and verifiable computation, combining an Execution Layer, a Consensus Layer, and a Verifiability Layer with financial co-processors. Its ecosystem includes the Nexus Exchange, a central limit order book for spot and perpetual futures, and NexusEVM, a parallel Ethereum-compatible environment for applications.
On the Nexus network, NEX serves as the payment method for transaction fees and gas on the Layer 1 blockchain, as well as for verifiable compute jobs on the network's distributed compute system. Additionally, NEX is used for staking to secure the network's Consensus Layer. The token also provides access to benefits on the Nexus Exchange, though specific exchange-related mechanics are expected to be announced closer to the exchange's planned launch in October 2026.

The project's roadmap includes USDX, a stablecoin fully backed by US Treasury bills and issued in partnership with M0 Protocol, scheduled for mid-2026. USDX is intended to serve as the quote and margin currency on the Nexus Exchange. Nexus has raised $27.2 million across seed and Series A funding rounds from investors including Lightspeed, Pantera, and Dragonfly. The mainnet launched on April 21, 2026, alongside the NEX token generation event.
