Oasis Network is a layer 1 blockchain focused on scalability and confidential computing. It includes Sapphire, a confidential EVM that enables developers to build dApps with privacy features on Oasis or other EVM-based chains. The native token, ROSE, is used for transaction fees, staking, delegation, and governance. The network's layered architecture supports various applications such as DeFi, AI, GameFi, NFTs, the metaverse, data tokenization, and DAO governance. It also has native support for rollups at the consensus layer.
Oasis Network stands out due to its focus on Smart Privacy, offering a customizable confidentiality framework for Web3 and AI applications. The Sapphire runtime and the Oasis Privacy Layer (OPL) allow privacy features to be integrated into any EVM-based chain, even those not built directly on Oasis. This flexibility enables developers to create a spectrum of confidentiality tailored to their needs. Additionally, the network's architecture separates consensus from computation, with the consensus layer secured by proof-of-stake and the compute layer supporting privacy-preserving runtimes.
The current circulating supply of Oasis Network ROSE is 6.5 billion tokens, out of a total supply of 10 billion. The initial distribution allocated 23.5% for staking rewards, 23% for backers, 5% for strategic partners and reserve, 18.5% for community and ecosystem, 10% for foundation endowment, and 20% for core contributors. ROSE is used for transaction fees, staking, delegation, and governance on the consensus layer, as well as for transaction fees and compute costs on the compute layer.
Oasis Network is secured through a proof-of-stake mechanism on its consensus layer, with validators operated by a decentralized global network. Fraud proofs based on discrepancy detection protect the compute and consensus layers. For confidential runtimes like Sapphire and Cipher, nodes use Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) that ensure data confidentiality through encrypted memory and remote attestation. This process allows smart contracts to process encrypted data without exposing it, even to node operators or developers, thereby maintaining privacy and security.
Oasis Network is a layer 1 blockchain designed to support scalability and confidential computing. It includes Sapphire, a confidential EVM runtime intended for developers building Web3 and decentralized AI applications. The network's architecture separates the consensus layer from the compute layer, with the former secured by a proof-of-stake mechanism and the latter hosting multiple parallel runtimes for specialized computation. This design aims to allow efficient execution of smart contracts while offering optional end-to-end encryption.
ROSE is the native token of the Oasis Network, used for transaction fees, staking, delegation, and governance on the consensus layer, as well as for compute costs on the compute layer. The current circulating supply is approximately 6.5 billion tokens, out of a total supply of 10 billion. The initial distribution allocated portions to staking rewards, backers, community and ecosystem, core contributors, foundation endowment, and strategic partners and reserve.
The Oasis Privacy Layer (OPL) is a framework that aims to bring confidentiality features to other EVM-based chains, allowing developers not building directly on Oasis to integrate privacy into their applications. The network also supports rollups at the consensus layer. The project emphasizes a flexible approach to privacy, contrasting with other networks that may prioritize either efficiency or confidentiality but not both.
