What is Open Campus?
Open Campus is a community-led protocol focused on building financial and credentialing infrastructure for global education. Its platform allows educators, learners, and institutions to issue verifiable credentials, access on-chain education finance, and develop consumer-facing educational applications on a shared, open infrastructure. The protocol is governed by a DAO, with core contributors including Animoca Brands, TinyTap, NewCampus, RiseIn, and HackQuest, who collaborate to enhance the education system through blockchain technology and funding initiatives.
The ecosystem is designed to connect learners, educators, content creators, and institutions, aiming to create a decentralized infrastructure for education known as the EDU Chain. This initiative includes decentralized applications that offer personalized learning experiences, tools for developers and institutions, and liquidity for ecosystem growth. The protocol also seeks to address challenges such as the undervaluation of educators and limited parental control over educational content, by decentralizing content creation and distribution.
