Overlay Protocol is a decentralized platform designed for taking long or short positions on any data stream that is scalar, resistant to manipulation, and unpredictable. Users participate by locking the protocol’s native token, OV, to open a position on a chosen market. The smart contract then mints or burns OV depending on whether the position is successful.
The protocol has been launched on its mainnet in a restricted testing environment referred to as the "Litter Box." At the time of this launch, fewer than 20,000 OV tokens were in circulation. This initial deployment appears to be a controlled step, allowing the system to operate in a limited capacity before any broader expansion.
