What is PAX Gold?
PAX Gold (PAXG) is a digital token backed by physical gold, with each unit designed to correspond to one fine troy ounce of a London Good Delivery gold bar held in professional storage facilities. Ownership of a PAXG token grants the holder rights to the underlying gold, which is under the custody of Paxos Trust Company. The token's value is linked to the current market price of the physical gold it represents.
The asset aims to combine the advantages of owning specific gold bars with the efficiency of a digital token, allowing for fractional ownership of physical bars. Through the Paxos platform, users can exchange their tokens for allocated gold, unallocated gold, or fiat currency, and vice versa, in a process designed to minimize settlement risk. PAXG is tradable on Paxos’ itBit exchange and is intended for availability on other cryptocurrency exchanges, wallets, and lending platforms within the broader digital asset ecosystem.
