Pundi X is a company that creates blockchain-based devices, with a focus on transforming retail through its point-of-sale solution. This system enables merchants and customers to make instant in-store transactions on the blockchain. Founded in 2017, it launched an initial coin offering in January 2018, becoming the first POS solution of its kind. After the ICO, Pundi X introduced several retail services, including XPOS, XWallet, XPASS, and the BOB blockchain phone. Headquartered in Singapore, the company has distributed its XPOS devices to over 25 markets, such as the United States, Spain, Argentina, Korea, Australia, Colombia, and Taiwan.
Pundi X was established in 2017 by Zac Cheah and Pitt Huang, who met in 2012 at an HTML5 Interest Group. Their shared vision was to integrate cryptocurrencies into everyday life. Zac Cheah, the CEO, previously chaired the W3C HTML5 Interest Group and holds master's degrees in computing from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and cybersecurity from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Pitt Huang, serving as CTO and COO, started coding at age 10 and built space games in high school. By 25, he had founded and sold a Groupon-like company to Baizhu in 2008, and later launched and sold other ventures, including a 200-person firm.
Pundi X aims to make cryptocurrency accessible to all by simplifying retail transformation, rather than competing with banks. Its ecosystem includes XPOS, XPASS, and XWallet. XPOS is the first wireless blockchain-based point-of-sale device for cryptocurrencies, allowing merchants and consumers to buy, sell, and transact with digital assets in physical stores. It supports all cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and PUNDIX. XWallet serves as a bridge between standard wallets and the payment system, enabling users to manage assets, transfer funds, check balances, and top up. Every registered user receives a virtual XPASS card. In June 2019, the Open Platform was launched to support additional blockchains, attracting DeFi developers and projects.
Most PUNDIX tokens have been issued, similar to other payment-focused platforms like Binance (BNB), Voyager Token (VGX), and Troy (TROY). Initially, Pundi X used PXS and PXSXEM tokens, which were swapped for PUNDIX between March and September 2018 at a rate of 1 PXS for 1,000 PUNDIX. The current circulating supply is 235,514,908,115 tokens, with a maximum supply of 258,526,640,301. About 91% of the total tokens have been issued. PUNDIX is not minable; instead, it is distributed weekly as staking rewards.
PUNDIX is available on several major cryptocurrency exchanges. The primary platforms for buying, selling, and trading include Binance, Upbit, Bithumb, Huobi Global, VCC Exchange, HitBTC, and DigiFinex. Additional exchanges can be found on our crypto exchanges page.
PundiX is a blockchain-focused company that develops payment solutions for physical retail environments. Its primary offering is a point-of-sale system that enables merchants and customers to carry out instant in-store transactions using digital assets. The project was established in 2017 by Zac Cheah and Pitt Huang, and it held its initial coin offering in January 2018.
The company, headquartered in Singapore, has built a payment ecosystem that includes the XPOS terminal, a mobile wallet application, and a virtual card. These tools are designed to allow users to buy, sell, and transfer various cryptocurrencies in physical stores. The XPOS device is described as the first wireless point-of-sale terminal for digital currencies, and it is intended to accept a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and the project's native token, PUNDIX. In 2019, the company launched an open platform to support additional blockchains and enable developers to integrate their tokens.
The PUNDIX token serves as the native asset of this ecosystem. It was created through a swap from earlier project tokens, which occurred in 2018. The token is not mineable; instead, it is distributed periodically as staking rewards. The current circulating supply is reported to be approximately 235.5 billion tokens, with a maximum supply of about 258.5 billion. The project aims to make cryptocurrency more accessible for everyday retail use.
