Ryo Currency is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that operates on a proof-of-work system. It originated as a fork of Monero, placing it in the same category as other privacy coins like Monero and Z-Cash. The primary goal of Ryo is to offer a user-friendly privacy coin suitable for everyday use. Its strong privacy features make it ideal for confidential transactions and as a store of value without the risk of being traced or monitored. To achieve this, Ryo focuses on developing and maintaining its wallets, integrating with payment gateways for merchant adoption, enhancing security, privacy, and speed, and raising awareness about the coin.
Ryo was created by pseudonymous lead developers known as @Fireice_uk and @Mosu_forge. Since it is a fork of Monero, it is built on the CryptoNote protocol and supported by a community of mostly anonymous developers and contributors, including @PiousFox, @RyoRU, @Kesior, @Nostradamus411, @Psychocrypt, and @SoapyFresh.
While Ryo is a fork of Monero, it aims to enhance security by using a higher ring size and implementing a new private transaction system that supports the old payment ID system. It employs Ring Confidential Transactions with a minimum ring size of 25 to conceal all transactions on the network. Ryo believes that emerging ZK-proofs will make tracing recipients nearly impossible. Privacy is central to Ryo, with encrypted addresses and obfuscated transaction amounts by default. Each transaction uses a disposable ghost address, ensuring that users never reuse the same address. This design makes Ryo fungible and resistant to blacklisting, similar to cash but with added anonymity.
The total supply of Ryo is capped at 88,188,188 coins. Currently, approximately 32.7 million RYO are in circulation. Ryo is mined similarly to Bitcoin, with block rewards following a 'Plateau Curve' distribution model. This emission scheme is inspired by real-world mining production of resources like crude oil, coal, and gas, with the majority of coins expected to be mined over the next 20 years. The emission curve closely resembles that of Bitcoin.
Ryo employs a Cryptonight GPU mining algorithm and is the first coin to use FP32 math. This allows anyone with a GPU to participate in mining, promoting decentralization compared to ASIC-dependent cryptocurrencies. The CN-GPU algorithm uses single-precision FP32 math, relying on physical core count rather than memory performance. This results in a fairer and more distributed mining process accessible to all.
Ryo offers an interesting solution for secure cryptocurrency transactions. However, its low awareness means a 15-fold increase would be needed to reach $1, which seems unlikely in the near term. If Ryo gains more visibility and recognition as a privacy coin, this could potentially change in the future.
Ryo Currency is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that operates on a proof-of-work consensus mechanism. It originated as a fork of Monero and, like its parent project, is built on the CryptoNote protocol. The project is led by pseudonymous developers and supported by a community of contributors. Its stated goal is to provide a privacy coin that is accessible to everyday users while maintaining strong confidentiality for transactions and value storage.
The network implements several privacy features, including Ring Confidential Transactions with a minimum ring size of 25, which help obscure transaction details. Sending and receiving addresses are encrypted, and transaction amounts are hidden by default. A disposable ghost address system is used to conceal the real recipient address, allowing for a new address with each transaction. These measures aim to make transactions untraceable and fungible, positioning the coin as a digital equivalent to cash.
Ryo has a total supply of 88,188,188 coins, with approximately 32.7 million currently in circulation. Its block rewards follow a "Plateau Curve" emission model, which is designed to release most coins over the next two decades. The cryptocurrency uses a Cryptonight GPU mining algorithm, which relies on FP32 math and allows anyone with a GPU to participate in mining, avoiding the centralization associated with ASIC-based systems. Users can store and transact Ryo through the Atom desktop and mobile wallet, which also supports GPU solo mining, or the Quasar web wallet.
