Smooth Love Potion (SLP) is a digital token earned by playing the game Axie Infinity, functioning as a substitute for experience points. As an ERC-20 token, SLP is used to breed new digital creatures called Axies. The breeding cost starts at 100 SLP and increases with each subsequent breed: 200, 300, 500, 800, 1,300, and finally 2,100 SLP for the seventh breed. This cap prevents market hyperinflation. Earning enough SLP through gameplay can be time-consuming; a player might need to win 15 competitions to afford their first breed. Alternatively, gamers can purchase SLP on the open market to get a head start.

The question is better directed at the founders of Axie Infinity, the game behind SLP. Trung Nguyen, the CEO of the company, left his software developer job in the U.S. to focus on this project. He was motivated by frustration that players don't truly own valuable assets in popular games. In an interview with Blockchain Gamer, he expressed that Ethereum provided the perfect platform to realize his 'dream game.' Nguyen also mentioned that the breeding process, which uses SLP, is designed to be familiar to fans of other collectible games like CryptoKitties.

It's uncommon for in-game currency to be listed on exchanges, as SLP has been. This is akin to Nintendo giving monetary value to Super Mario coins. Nguyen notes that Axies differ from other non-fungible tokens because they require nurturing to reach adulthood. SLP also stands out as one of the few in-game tokens listed by Binance in its Innovation Zone, a category reserved for assets with potentially higher volatility and risk.

The circulating supply of SLP is dynamic because tokens are burned when new Axies are bred. Currently, the supply is in the tens of millions, and there is no hard cap. If the player base grows significantly, more SLP could enter circulation through competitions. SLP's price reached an all-time high of $0.3642 on May 1, 2021, then dropped by nearly 75%. It peaked again in mid-July at $0.3462, but has since been on a downward trend.

Smooth Love Potion does not have its own blockchain; it is an ERC-20 token that runs on the Ethereum blockchain. Therefore, its security is tied to Ethereum's network.

Initially, SLP did not have a fluctuating value, but that changed when a liquidity pool was created on Uniswap. Binance's Innovation Zone also supports the game-inspired token. Major exchanges for buying, selling, and trading SLP include Binance, KuCoin, Gate.io, Gemini, OKEx, Uniswap (V3), and SushiSwap. Trading pairs like SLP/ETH, SLP/USDT, and SLP/BUSD are available.
