What is Subsquid?
Subsquid (SQD) is a decentralized data lake and query engine that provides developers with efficient and permissionless access to blockchain data. The project, launched in 2021, was created as a response to the limitations of traditional monolithic indexing frameworks, which have struggled to keep pace with the rapidly evolving blockchain environment. Its architecture is secured by zero-knowledge proofs and designed with a modular structure, aiming to offer scalability and convenience for use cases such as blockchain indexing, dApp development, and analytics.
The platform's decentralized approach positions it as an alternative to centralized infrastructure providers, including large RPC and API services. It initially gained traction within the Substrate ecosystem before expanding its support to EVM-based networks. The network reports over 60,000 indexers deployed by 17,000 developers, with applications spanning areas like DeFi, privacy, and AI.
