What is Echelon?
Echelon (ELON) is a meme coin that operates on the Ethereum and Polygon networks, drawing inspiration from popular dog-themed cryptocurrencies. Its name combines references to Dogecoin and entrepreneur Elon Musk, with a nod to the "moon" meme through its Martian theme. The project has cultivated a notable online following, though its founders remain unidentified, which is typical for many meme coins. The coin's background is built around a comic narrative featuring a dog character exploring space and attempting to recolonize Mars.
The token's total supply is set at one quadrillion, with half of that amount sent to Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin to effectively remove it from circulation. The remaining supply is locked in a liquidity pool, with a circulating supply of 553 billion tokens. As an ERC-20 token, ELON relies on the security of the Ethereum network, which uses a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, and also benefits from Polygon's layer-two scaling capabilities for faster transaction processing.
