Unitas is a decentralized finance protocol that launched in 2025, focusing on generating returns in US dollars through market-neutral strategies. It offers infrastructure for structured yield products designed to minimize direct exposure to cryptocurrency price swings while still allowing for on-chain yield generation. The ecosystem features USDu, a yield-bearing synthetic dollar, and UP, which serves as the protocol's governance and ecosystem token. USDu is created when users supply approved collateral, which is then directed into delta-neutral strategies that seek returns from market structure rather than price appreciation.
The protocol's approach combines liquidity provision with derivatives hedging across decentralized markets. For instance, it may provide liquidity through JLP while holding offsetting perpetual positions to hedge directional risk, allowing the strategy to earn from trading fees, liquidity incentives, and funding rate differentials. Additional yield sources include funding rate arbitrage, basis spreads between spot and derivatives markets, and other non-directional opportunities arising from market inefficiencies. An automated infrastructure layer monitors conditions and manages hedge ratios, margin levels, and liquidity distribution, rebalancing positions as needed to preserve delta-neutral exposure.
Unitas operates on multiple blockchains, including Solana and BNB Chain, to access liquidity across various exchanges and venues. UP token holders can participate in governance decisions regarding strategy allocation, treasury management, and ecosystem initiatives. The protocol emphasizes transparency through on-chain data, offering visibility into collateral deployment and reserves, with proof-of-reserves systems in place. Smart contracts have been audited by external firms such as ScaleBit, Oak Security, and SlowMist to identify potential vulnerabilities.
