VeThor Token serves as the gas token on the VeChainThor blockchain, which is a public network that also uses VeChain Token (VET). VTHO is used to pay for transaction fees and smart contract operations. The separation of the protocol token (VET) from the gas token (VTHO) allows the network to manage costs more flexibly and helps users avoid concerns about price volatility and cost fluctuations. VTHO follows the VIP-180 standard and represents the smart contract layer of the blockchain.
The total supply of VTHO is not fixed. Instead, it is generated when users hold or stake VET tokens. The amount of VTHO in circulation depends on the rates of generation and burning, which are determined by network activity and protocol rules. There is no maximum supply cap for VTHO.
VeThor Token (VTHO) operates as the gas component of the VeChainThor public blockchain, one of two tokens used on this network. While VeChain Token (VET) serves as the platform's native asset, VTHO is responsible for powering transactions and other processes. This division between a protocol token and a gas token allows VeChain to manage network costs more flexibly, aiming to reduce concerns about price swings and fluctuating usage fees for clients.
As a VIP-180 Standard token, VTHO functions primarily to enable operations on the blockchain and represents the network's smart contract layer. The token is generated through holding or staking VET, which mints VTHO to facilitate transaction processing. VTHO's supply is not capped; instead, it is determined by the rates at which new tokens are generated and burned.
