What is WazirX?
WazirX is a cryptocurrency exchange established in 2018 and based in India. The platform reports having over 400,000 users and an average app rating of 4.6. It operates as part of the Binance ecosystem and, together with Binance, launched a $50 million fund called 'Blockchain For India'. The exchange serves a global audience and offers features such as instant INR fiat deposits and withdrawals, a Smart Token Fund that connects investors with expert traders, and an auto-matching peer-to-peer engine designed to provide high liquidity.
The exchange's native utility token, WRX, is built on the Binance blockchain and has a total supply of 1 billion tokens. Token holders can receive benefits such as trading fee discounts, participation in token airdrops, and other incentives. WazirX was acquired by Binance in November 2019. The company is led by Indian entrepreneurs with over ten years of experience in developing global products from India. Its stated goal is to make cryptocurrency accessible to a broader audience in India.
