The Orb Factory Limited has issued a recall for more than 120,000 Orb Funkee squeeze toys due to the presence of fibrous tremolite, a form of asbestos, in the sand filling. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an alert regarding the potentially hazardous products, which were sold at major retailers nationwide.

The affected toys were available at Walmart and Ollie's Bargain Outlet, with retail prices ranging from $5 to $40. Units were sold from February 2025 through April 2026, impacting approximately 121,340 toys.

The recall applies to two specific soft, stretchable toy models. Consumers can identify affected products by checking for date code 3102491A, which is printed on the hand of the large golden monkey version or on the back of smaller models.

Health Risks Identified

The sand filling inside the toys may contain fibrous tremolite, a dangerous form of asbestos. If the sand is inhaled, it can cause serious health issues. No injuries or incidents have been reported to date. The company is urging all consumers who own these products to immediately take them away from children and stop using the toys entirely.

Refund Process

The Orb Factory is offering full refunds for all defective products. To receive a refund, customers must place the toy in a heavy-duty plastic bag, seal it securely with tape, and email a photo of the bagged product to customerservice@orbtoys.com.

If a toy has ruptured and sand has leaked out, consumers should wear a mask and gloves during cleanup. The escaped sand should be wiped up using a damp cloth. The toy, cloth, mask, and gloves must then be placed in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-bagged, sealed with tape, and disposed of according to local or state regulations.

Contact Information

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact The Orb Factory directly at 800-741-0089 or visit the recall information section on their website for additional details. The Orb Factory Limited, Walmart, and Ollie's Bargain Outlet did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Consumers who purchased these products are advised to act promptly and follow the specified disposal procedures to ensure safety for themselves and their families.
